Records Access
When requesting public records, or doing background investigations, please be advised, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is a jail and house of correction that houses male and female offenders awaiting trial or serving a sentence of 2.5 years or less. We are not an arresting/police authority or a court. Any information regarding police reports/police record checks would have to be requested directly to the city/town police department(s). Additionally, any information relative to court proceedings/possible charges on file would have to be obtained from such court.
In accordance with the enactment of MGL Chapter 121 - An Act to Improve Public Records - the Franklin County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) has designated Captain Nick Carme as its Public Records Access Officer, who will assist requester in fulfilling their requests.
