Sgt. Jacob Garmalo Memorial Fund
Mission and Goals
The mission of the Sgt. Jacob Garmalo Memorial Fund is to raise funds from individuals, businesses and corporations as a means to assist individuals recently released from incarceration in Franklin County to overcome financial obstacles, instill hope and foster the personal growth needed to move forward as positive and contributing members of the community.
Sgt. Jacob Garmalo brought a caring and compassionate presence to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office that was valued by both staff and residents of the facility. His character was exemplary and commanded respect for himself and those around him. Always willing to listen, he worked closely with the residents and fought against stigma and shame, spurned being judgmental and worked to bring out the best in everyone. Officer Garmalo’s youthful energy, drive and motivation helped residents rise to the challenges of everyday life. He was a beacon of hope, brightening the days of those around him. Jacob had a dream to help individuals successfully recover from the hardships in life that led to their incarceration.
Tragically, Jacob’s life ended in 2016 as a result of a motorcycle accident at the young age of 21. The goal of the fund is to continue his legacy and keep his vision alive.
